Job description

The compiler development team in China Development Lab will work closely with the IBM Compilation Technology team in the IBM Canada Laboratory (Toronto location) to deliver new releases of C/C++ and Fortran compiler technology for Linux and AIX platforms. We are looking for talents to build a strong development team which includes the senior Fortran front-end compiler developers.



Job Responsibilities
- These individuals will be experienced, creative and enthusiastic software developers who have a passion for problem-solving and solid experience with object-oriented programming to work on IBM’s aggressively-optimizing XL Fortran compiler front end and run-time. They will be working on one of the most advanced high-performance Fortran compilers in the industry, and will be excited by the prospect that their code will be used in high-performance computing environments such as research computer laboratories, aerospace, and weather forecasting. They will also be interested in helping to drive the continuing evolution of the Fortran language.

- Job responsibilities will include implementing leading-edge language features such as the OpenMP parallel programming model and the modern Fortran 2008 language specification. They will ensure that the XL Fortran compiler handles some of the world's most complex software, and will have opportunities to work on the high-performance run-times and libraries that compliment the compiler products. They will be working with a team of highly skilled compiler developers deploying the compilers to platforms as diverse as Linux, AIX, and Blue Gene. Required
- achelor's Degree
- At least 5 years experience in expert understanding of Fortran programming
- At least 5 years experience in expert understanding of C/C++ programming
- At least 2 years experience in compiler related areas
- At least 3 years experience in senior software developer
- At least 4 years experience in developing software on Linux and AIX (or other Unix variants)

English: Fluent
Chinese simplified: Fluent

Additional information
- Practical experience with implementing parsers or constructing compilers is preferred
- Some exposure to the implementation of high-performance run-times is an asset
- Knowledge of OpenMP, UPC, or other parallel programming methodologies is an asset
- Knowledge of optimization techniques and performance analysis tools is an asset
- Good working knowledge software development best practices, including Agile development
